Answer:

Perimeter of rectangle = Perimeter of square

2 (l+b) = 4 X side

2( 12+ x) = 4 X 8

24 + 2x = 32

2x = 32-24

2x = 8

x = 8/ 2

x=4

4 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Perimeter of (square = Rectangle)

Side of square = 8 cm

Length of rectangle = 12 cm

To find:

Breadth of rectangle

Solution:

\because Side of square = 8 cm

\therefore Perimeter of square = 4 × 8 = 32 cm

Again,

Length of rectangle = 12 cm

let, the breadth of rectangle be x cm.

\therefore Perimeter of rectangle = 2(12 + x) cm

According to question,

Perimeter of (Square = Rectangle)

Or, 32 = 2(12 + x)

Or, 16 = 12 + x

Or, x = 16 - 12

Or, x = 4 cm

Hence The required breadth of rectangle is 4 cm.

Extra Information:

Rectangle : Rectangle is a 2D shape which have 4 sides. Opposite sides are equal and parallel to each other, They also make 90° on there corners.

Area of Rectangle : length × breadth

Perimeter of rectangle : 2(length + breadth)

Square : Square is 2D shape which consist of 4 equal sides and parallel to each other. They also make 90° on there corners.

Area of square : (side)²

Perimeter of square : 4 × side
