Let the BREADTH of rectangle is X m.

Then,

The length will be 5X-4

PERIMETER OF RECTANGLE = 2(L+B)

40 = 2(5X-4+X)

40 = 2(6X-4)

40 = 12X-8

12X = 40-8

12X = 32

X = 32/12 = 2.66 m.

Therefore,

LENGTH = 5X -4 = 5×2.66-4 = 13.33-4 = 9.33 m

Hello Friend !!!

Let, the breadth be x.
⇒ length = 5x - 4
⇒ 2 ( x + 5x - 4 ) = 40
⇒ 2x + 10x - 8 = 40
⇒ 12x = 48
⇒ x = 4

So, breadth = 4m
Length = 5 x 4 -4 = 16m ( Ans )
