Answer:-

Let the breadth of the rectangle be x cm.

Given:

Length is 1 cm less than twice the breadth.

So, Length = (2x - 1) cm.

And,

Perimeter of the rectangle = 40 cm.

We know that,

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

So,

⟹ 40 = 2(2x - 1 + x)

⟹ 40 = 2(3x - 1)

⟹ 40 = 6x - 2

⟹ 40 + 2 = 6x

⟹ 42/6 = x

⟹ 7 cm = x

Length of the rectangle = 2x - 1 = 2(7) - 1 = 14 - 1 = 13 cm.

Breadth of the rectangle = x = 7 cm

Answer:

Perimeter of rectangle =40 cm (given)

condition :- length = 2× breadth +2

⇒l=2b+2

perimeter p=2(l+b)=40

⇒2(2b+2+b)=40

⇒2(3b+2)=40

⇒6b=40−4=36

∴b=6cm

l=2×6+2=12+2=14cm

∴ length =14 cm, breadth =6 cm
