Given:

The perimeter of a rectangle is 70cm. If it's breadth is 5cm less than length.

To find:

The area of rectangle.

Explanation:

Let the length of the rectangle be R

Let the breadth of the rectangle be (R- 5)cm

We know that perimeter of rectangle: 2(length+ breadth)

→ 2(R+ R-5)= 70cm

→ 2(2R-5) =70cm

→ 4R-10=70cm

→ 4R =70 +10

→ 4R =80

→ R= \cancel{\frac{80}{4} }

→ R= 20

  • Length= 20cm
  • Breadth= (20 -5)cm= 15cm

Area of the rectangle: Length× Breadth

⇒ 20cm × 15cm

⇒ 300cm².

Thus,

The area of the rectangle is 300cm².
