Answer:

243  \: {cm}^{2}

Given:

Perimeter of rectangle=72 cm

Length is 3 times the width

To find:

The area of the rectangle

Solution:-

Let the width be x

Then length be 3x

Perimeter=72 cm

We know that

Perimeter of rectangle=2(l+b)

72=2(3x+x)

72=2(4x)

72=8x

x=9

Breadth=9 cm

Length=9 ×3

=27 cm

Now;

Area of rectangle=length × Breadth

=27 × 9

=243 cm^2

----------------------

Area of the rectangle is 243 cm^2
