ANSWER:

  • Breadth of the rectangle = 13 cm

GIVEN:

  • Perimeter of rectangle = Perimeter of square.
  • Side of square = 15cm
  • Length of rectangle = 17 cm

TO FIND:

  • Breadth of the rectangle.

SOLUTION:

Perimeter of Square = 4(Side)

=> Perimeter of square = 4(15)

=> Perimeter of square = 60 cm

=> Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length+Breadth)

Let the breadth of the rectangle be x

=> Perimeter of rectangle = 2(17+x)

According to the Question:

Perimeter of rectangle = Perimeter of square.

=> 2(17+x) = 60 cm

=> 34+2x = 60

=> 2x = 60-34

=> 2x = 26

=> x = 26/2

=> x = 13

Breadth of the rectangle = 13 cm

NOTE:

Some important formulas:

Area of Square = (Side)²

Area of rectangle = Length*Breadth

Area of rhombus = Base*Altitude

Area of parallelogram = Base*Altitude

Area of Triangle = (Base*Altitude)/2

Perimeter of Square = 4(side)

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length+breadth)

Answer:

Breadth = 13 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Perimeter of rect = Perimeter of sq.

each side of sq. = 15 cm

Perimeter of sq. = 15 ×4

= 60 cm = P. of rect.

Now,

Length of rect = 17 cm

Breadth be x cm

Perimeter of rect = 60 cm

=> 2 ( L + B ) = 60

=> 2 ( 17 + x ) = 60

=> 17 + x = 60/2

=> 17 + x = 30

=> x = 30 - 17

=> x = 13 cm.

Henc, the breadth is 13 cm .
