Area is 255
because
perimeter=2(l+b)
64=2(17+b)
64÷2=17+b
32=17+b
32-17=b
so, breadth=15
therefore,Area=l×b
area=17×15
area=255

The area of the rectangle is 255 cm².

Given:

  • The perimeter of the rectangle is 64 cm.
  • The length of the rectangle is 17 cm.

To find:

  • Find the area of rectangle.

Solution:

Concept formula to be used: If 'l' is length and 'b' is the breadth of a rectangle.

  • Perimeter of rectangle:\bf 2(l + b)

  • Area of rectangle:\bf l \times b

Step 1:

Find the width of the rectangle.

Put the values in the formula of perimeter.

64 = 2(17 + b) \\

17 + b =  \frac{64}{2}  \\

17 + b = 32 \\

b = 32 - 17 \\

\bf b = 15 \\

Thus,

The breadth of the rectangle is 15 cm.

Step 2:

Find the area of the rectangle.

Put the values of length and breadth in the formula.

Area = 17 \times 15 \\

\bf Area  = 255 \:  {cm}^{2}  \\

Thus,

Area of rectangle is 255 cm².
