the perimeter of a rectangles is 216cm. if its length and breadth are in the ratio 4:5 ,find its dimensions and its area.

Let the length be 5x

and breadth = 4x

2(5x+4x) = 216

9x = 216/2

x = 108/9

x = 12

5x = 12×5 = 60 cm

4x = 4×12 = 48 cm

Area = 60×48

= 2880 cm²

Ratio of length and Breadth of Rectangle are 4:5.

Let X be common multiple to the ratio.



Therefore,



Length of Rectangle = 4X.


And,


Breadth of Rectangle = 5X


Perimeter of Rectangle = 216



2 ( L + B) = 216


2 ( 4X + 5X) = 216



4X + 5X = 216/2




9X = 108



X = 108/9



X = 12.



Length of Rectangle = 5X = 5 × 12 = 60 cm



And,


Breadth of Rectangle = 4X = 4 × 12 = 48 cm




Area of Rectangle = L × B = 60 × 48





=> 2880 cm².
