P= 72 cm

b=1/3 l

2(l+b)= 72

2(l+1/3 l)= 72

4l/3= 36

4l = 36 x3

l= 36 x3 / 4

l= 27cm

b = 1/3 x 27

b=9cm

Answer:

length=27

breadth=9

Step-by-step explanation:

let,

length(l)=x

breadth(b)=\frac{1}{3}x

perimeter of a rectangle= 2(l+b)

72 = 2(x+\frac{1}{3}x)

72= 2(\frac{3x+x}{3})

72= 2(\frac{4x}{3})

72= \frac{8x}{3}

72(3)= 8x

216= 8x

\frac{216}{8}= x

27= x   {length}

breadth= \frac{1}{3}x

     = \frac{1}{3}(27)

     = 9
