Step-by-step explanation:

lets us consider that breath of the pool is=x

and length is y.

y+2 (given)

formula for perimeter:

2×length +breath=perimeter

2×y+x=154

4y+x=154

x=154÷4

x=38.5

therefore breath=38.5

length=y+2=38.5+2=40.5

Question :–

The perimeter of a rectangular swimming pool is 154 m. Its length is 2 m more than twice its breadth. What are the length and the breadth of the pool?

Given :–

  1. Perimeter of a rectangular swimming pool = 154m.
  2. Its length is 2m more than twice its breadth.

To Find :–

  1. The length of the pool.
  2. The Breadth of the pool.

Solution :–

Let the breadth = x

And the length = 2x + 2

Perimeter of rectangle =  2(l+b)

 2(l+b) = 154

 2(2x + 2 + x) = 154

 2(3x + 2) = 154

 3x + 2 = \sf \dfrac{\cancel{154}}{\cancel2}

 3x + 2 = 77

 3x = 77 - 2

 3x = 75

 x = \sf \dfrac{75}{3}

 x = 25

Hence,

The breadth of the pool :-

x = 25m.

And the length of the pool

= 2x + 2

= 2 × 25 + 2

= 50 + 2

= 52m.

Answers :–

  1. Breadth of the pool = 25m.
  2. Length of the pool = 52m.
