Given :-

Perimeter of a rectangular swimming pool is = 154m.

Length is 2 metre more than the breadth.

To Find :-

What are the length and the breadth of the pool?

Solution :-

Let the breadth of the swimming pool be x metre.

Therefore,

According to the question :-

Length of the swimming pool = ( 2x +2) m

We know,

Perimeter \: of \: rectangle

=2 ( Length + Breath)

Now, put the given values

⟼ 154 = 2 { (2x + 2) + x }

⟼ 154 = 2 ( 2x + 2 + x)

⟼ 154 = 2 ( 3x + 2)

⟼ 154 = 6x + 4

⟼ 154 -4 = 6x

⟼ 150 = 6x

⟼ x = 25 m

Therefore,

The breadth of the swimming pool is = 25 m

The length of the swimming pool is

= ( 2x +2) m

= (2 × 25 + 2) m

= 52 m

Extra Information :-

• Area of a rectangular = wl

• Perimetre of rectangular = 2 ( l +w)

• Diagonal, D = √ (w² + l²)

• Length, l = A/w

• Width, w = A/l

Where,

l = Length

w = Width

P = Perimeter

A = Area

D = Diagonal
