length of each side of the square = perimeter/4 = 10 cm/4 = 2.5 cm
if squares of side 1/2 cm are cut from each corner, then from each side 2*(1/2) cm is getting reduced, i.e; each side is getting reduced by 1 cm.
Therefore new length of each side= (2.5-1)cm = 1.5 cm
Required perimeter of the new shape = (4*1.5)cm = 6 cm [answer]
