the perimeter of a trapezium is 104m, its non parallel sides are 18m and 22m, and its altitude is 16m.Find the area of the trapezium.

Solution:

Let one side be x.

Then other be x+6

Perimeter of a trapezium = x + x+6 + 18 +22

104 = 2x + 46

58 = 2x

29m = x

x=29m


Then other side x+6 = 35


Area of a Trapezium = 1/2 ( sum of its parallel sides ) * altitude

= 1/2 ( 29+35 ) * 16

Area= 512 m^2
