The perimeter of a triangle is 30cm. Its sides are in the ratio1:3:2,
then find its area.

Let 1st side = x

Let 2nd side = 3x

& 3rd side = 2x

Perimeter of a triangle = a + b + c

                                                                                  (know your formulas)

30 = x+3x+2x

30 = 6x

x = 30  = 5

      6

x = 5

∴ 2x = 5×2 = 10

& 3x = 5×3 = 15

Area of a triangle = 1 × b × h

                                 2                                (where b is base and h              is height)

= 1 × 15 × 10

 2                                                                         (cancel off 2 with 10)

= 15×5

=75cm{2}
