$\implies \sf{(5x + 4)+ y = 4x - 8}$

$\implies \sf{ y = (4x - 8) - (5x + 4)}$

$\implies \sf{ y =4x - 8 - 5x - 4}$

$\implies \sf{ y = - x - 12}$
