The perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 128 centimeters. The length of the base is 32 centimeters. A square has perimeter equal to the length of one of the congruent sides of the triangle. How many square centimeters are in the area of the square?

in isosceles triangle 2 sides are equal so we give them the value X

128=32+x+x

128-32=2x

96/2=x

48=x

congruent sides have equal areas therefore the sided have equal areas that is 48 is the perimeter of square.

perimeter of square=4s

48=4s

48/4=s

12=s

area of square=side x side

area of square=12 x 12

area of square=144
