Answer:
There are 3 types of Triangles.
- Equilateral Triangle
- Isosceles Triangle
- Scalene Triangle
Today we are concerned about the 2nd variety, The Isosceles Triangle.

Given,
Perimeter of Isosceles Triangle = 16cm
1 side = 4cm
In an Isosceles Triangle, 2 sides are of equal length. So,
Perimeter - 1 Side = E Side 1 + E Side 2
E Side 1 = E Side 2
So, this can also be written as,
Perimeter - 1 Side = 2 × E Side
(Here, ' E ' refers to Equal)
16cm - 4cm = 2 × E Side
12cm = 2 × E Side
(Transversing of 2 to LHS)
12cm / 2 = E Side
6cm = E Side
So, the length of 1 Equal Side is 6cm
Checking
4cm + 6cm + 6cm = 16cm
10cm + 6cm = 16cm
16cm = 16cm
So, the answer we obtained is correct
Definitions
- Equilateral Triangle - An Equilateral Triangle is the traingle in which 3 sides are of equal length. Even it's interior angles (The angles inside the traingle) are also equal
- Isosceles Triangle - An Isosceles Triangle is the triangle in which 2 sides are of equal length and 1 side which has a different length. Only 2 interior angles are equal.
- Scalene Triangle - A Scalene Triangle is the traingle in which none of the sides nor the interior angles are same / equal.
