The perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 36 cm . The length of the congruent sides is 7 cm less than twice the length of its base . Find the length of its base of the triangle.

length of base is 10 cm

x + 2y = 36

y = (36- x)/2

y = 2x -7

36-x = 4x -14

50=5x

x= 10cm
