let the sides be a, a and b.
Then 2a+b =40 cm and b=4/3a.
making b=4/3 a in 2a +b =40,we get 10/3a =40 and so a=12 cm, and b= 16 cm

Let the sides be x , x and y
Perimeter of the isosceles triangle= 40cm
x+x+y= 40
2x+y= 40
Base = 2/3(2x)
2x+ 4x/3 = 40
(6x+4x)/3= 40
10x/3 = 40
10x= 120
x= 12cm

Therefore, the sides are:
12cm
12cm
2/3(12+12)=2/3(24)=16cm
