QUESTION :-

the perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 42 cm and its base is 3.2 times each of the equal sides find the length of each side of triangle and height of triangle .

ANSWER:-

Let the side of the isosceles triangle be x.

GIVEN:-

3.2 x +x +x=42cm

3.2x+ 2x =42

5.2x=42

x=42÷5.2

x=8.0cm

side=8.0cm & base=3.2cm

The height(altitude) of an isos. trangle divides it into two right trangles

in a right.trangle,

base²+height²=hypotenuse² [Pythagoras theorem ]

(NOTE :- SIDE IS A HYPOTENUSE)

thus, 3.2²+h²=8.0²

h=√3.2²-8.0²

=√10.24-64

=√53.76

height=7.3cm.

EXTRA:-

area of Δ=1/2 x base x hieght

         =1/2 x 3.2 x7.3

           =1.6×7.3

=11.68cm².
