we know that perimeter of a rectangle is given by p=  2(l+b)
given p=160 cm
b=30cm
hence 2l+2*30=160
2l+60=160
2l=100
l=50cm
area of a rectangle is given by l*b
                                                       =50*30
                                                         =1500 sq.cm

Length of rectangle is 50 cm.

Area of rectangle is 1500 cm².

Given:

  • The perimeter of rectangle is 160cm.
  • If the breadth of the rectangle is 30 cm.

To find:

  • Find its length.
  • Also find the area of the rectangle.

Solution:

Formula to be used:

  1. Perimeter of rectangle:2(l+b)
  2. Area of rectangle: l×b; here, l: length and b: breadth of rectangle.

Step 1:

Find length of rectangle.

As,

Perimeter of rectangle: 160 cm

Breadth: 30 cm

So,

2(l + 30) = 160 \\

or

l + 30 = 80 \\

or

l = 80 - 30 \\

or

\bf \red{l = 50 \: cm}

Thus,

Length of rectangle is 50 cm.

Step 2:

Find area of rectangle.

As,

Length= 50 cm

Breadth= 30 cm

So,

Area= 50 \times 30 \\

or

Area= 1500 cm².

Thus,

Area of rectangle is 1500 cm².
