Answer:

Really, since opposite sides are equal in length in a rectangle, we only need to find two sides. We can call them  L  (length) and  W  (width).

The area of a rectangle is defined by  A=LW

The perimeter of a rectangle is defined by  P=2(L+W)

A=P=24

∴24=LW,24=2(L+W)

We will take the area equation:

24=LW

L=24W

We can now sub this into the perimeter equation.

24=2(L+W)

12=L+W

Let L=24W

12=24W+W

12W=24+W2

0=W2−12W+24

Using the Quadratic Formula,

W=12±122−4(1)(24)√2(1)

W=6+23–√ or W=6−23–√

So these are the two side lengths
