Given: Coordinates of the three vertices of the given triangle = (0,1), (1,0), and (0,1)

To find : The perimeter of the given triangle.

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

To solve this mathematical problem we need to know more about the perimeter of a triangle.

What is the perimeter of a triangle?

  • The perimeter of a triangle is the sum of the length of three sides of that triangle.

Let,

First vertex = A = (0,0)

Second vertex = B = (1,0)

Third vertex = C = (0,1)

Three sides will be = AB,BC,CA

The formula which we will use here is :

  • If the co-ordinates of the two endpoints of a straight is = (x₁,y₁) and (x₂,y₂)
  • Then, length of a straight line =[(x₂-x₁)²+(y₂-y₁)²]

So,

Length of AB = √[(0-1)²+(0-0)²] = √1 = 1 unit

Length of BC = √[(1-0)²+(0-1)²] = √2 units

Length of CA = √[(0-0)²+(1-0)²] = √1 = 1 unit

Perimeter of the triangle = Length of AB + Length of BC + Length of CA = (1+√2+1) = (2+√2) units

Hence, the perimeter of the triangle will be (2+√2) units.
