Answer:

Given, perimeter is 17x-12

the sides are x-5, 7x+5 and third side

W.K.T x-5+7x+5+third side=17x-12

8x+third side=17x-12

third side=9x-12 cm

Given:

✰ Perimeter of a triangle = 17x -12

✰ Two sides of a triangle are are (x-5) cm and (7x+5) cm respectively.

To find:

✠ The length is it's third side.

Solution:

Triangle:

A triangle is any closed figure of three sides.

Perimeter:

The perimeter of a closed plane figure like triangle is nothing but the length of its total boundary.

Perimeter of a triangle:

The perimeter of a triangle is the sum of the lengths of its three sides.

  • Thus, the perimeter of a triangle = a + b + c, where a, b and c denote the lengths of the sides of a triangle.

Using this formula, putting the values in the formula and then doing the required calculations, we will find the length of its third side.

Let's find out...✧

Perimeter of triangle = a + b + c

Here,

  • a and b are the two respective sides of a triangle, which is given.
  • c is the length of third side of a triangle, which we need to find.

Putting the values in the formula, we have:

➤ 17x - 12 = (x - 5) + (7x + 5) + c

➤ 17x - 12 = x - 5 + 7x + 5 + c

➤ 17x - 12 = 8x - 5 + 5 + c

➤ 17x - 12 = 8x + c

➤ c = 17x - 12 - 8x

➤ c = ( 9x - 12 ) cm

∴ The length of the third side of a triangle = ( 9x - 12 ) cm
