Explanation:

Given The perimeters of the three marked rectangles of this cuboid are as follows:

Rectangle A - 14 cm

Rectangle B - 18 cm

Rectangle C - 20 cm

Find the I, band h of the cuboid. Then find its volume.

Length=6cm

Breath=4cm

Height=3cm

  • So a cuboid has 3 sides It has 12 edges. So it has 6 faces. In that 6 faces there are 6 rectangles.
  • So let the unique edges be A,B and C.
  • Also perimeter of a rectangle is 2(l + b)
  • Now 2A + 2B = 14
  •         2A + 2C = 18
  •        2B + 2C = 20
  • So we get
  •         A + B = 7
  •         A + C = 9
  •         B + C = 10
  •   A + C = 9
  •     C = 9 – A
  •        Substituting in B + C = 10 we get
  •            B + C = 10
  •           B + 9 - A = 10
  •            B - A = 1
  •     B + A = 7
  •    B - A = 1
  •  ------------------
  •     2B = 8
  •     B = 4
  •                    Now A + B = 7
  •                            A + 4 = 7
  •                             A = 3
  •                  Now A + C = 9
  •                           3 + C = 9
  •                              C = 6
  • So we have length = 6 cm, breadth = 4 cm height = 3 cm
  • Now Volume = length x breadth x height
  •                       = 6 x 4 x 3
  •               Volume = 72 cu cm
