A) Follicular phase.

After the menstrual phase is over on the 5th day of menstrual cycle, Follicular phase starts. During this phase, the ovary begins to form a new egg that matures inside the follice to form the Graffian follicle. The Graffian follicle, releases hormone called oestrogen that prepares the uterus to receive ovum. The utetine walls become thickened and develops a dense network of blood vessels.
Finally on the 14th day of menstrual cycle, the Graffian follicle ruptured to release the ovum. This process is called ovulation.
Thus Follicular phase starts from the end of menstruation phase to the onset of ovulatory phase, for a period of about 7-8 days.
