Yes. Kinney’s descriptive poem weaves a story to make a protest against racism and bigotry. The poem is made up of eight quatrains, i.e., four lines per stanza. It also has an approximate abcd end rhyme scheme. It was written in the 1960s but the message that it conveys is relevant even today at a time when we face divisive threats that lead to violence and hatred. It is a reminder to get over our personal demons. It also helps us to be more open to wisdom and having an attitude in which everyone can be considered as equals.
