The poem titled 'All the World's a Stage' has been written by the famous English poet and playwright, William Shakespeare. There is no fixed rhyme scheme in this poem as it written in a free verse format, but the poem does follow a steady rhythm of five beats in every line. Because of this uniformity in rhythm, the poem is a blank verse. The figures of speech used in the poem are Alliteration, Consonance, Hyperbole, Inversion, Metaphor, Metonymy. Onomatopoeia, Repetition, Simile, and Transferred Epithet. An example of Simile is "And then the lover Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad" - where the lover's sigh is compared to the sound of a furnace. The central idea of the poem is that each man has various roles to play throughout his life as the poem is written a metaphor for life. It shows that life is arranged in a particular order, wherein each individual lives his life in different phases. It also highlights the theme of the constant changes that take place throughout our lives Mnemonic: STOMACH MRI
