Conclusion drawn by the poet:

It was very unusual seeing that farmhouse was empty. Even I wondered about the absence of owner who is not a farmer because of “boulders in field and leaky barn”. The poor status of family was clear seeing the condition of farmhouse where there were “several jars in the cellar”.

The presence of woman in that house was clear seeing the “oilcloth on shelves and lilac wallpaper”. It was also clear that she left the house in hurry. The touching part mentioned in the poem were the toys scattering in the yard.

Answer with Explanation:

The poet draws conclusions about the family without having met them.

The other sentences are :

The fields are full of boulders . So it is likely that the man did not do farming. It seems that  the women left the house in a nervous state , because she left the sealed jars in the kitchen. There was a copy of the Bible in the house. This suggests that the man was God fearing.
