Solution:

Given Points are A(-4,0) and B(0,6)

A/Q - R divides the line segment AB in ratio of 3/4 i.e. AR = 3/4AB

it means AR /AB = 3/4 then m = 4 and n= 3

we have to find the coordinate of R .

Here x₁ = -4, x₂ = 0  y₁ = 0, y₂ = 6 and m =4 and n = 3

now by using section formula we get

R(x,y) = (mx₂+nx₁/m+n , my₂+ny₁/ m+n)

R(x, y) = (4×0+ -4×3 /7 , 4×6 +3×0/7)

= -12/7, 24/7

∴R (x,y) = (-12/7, 24/7)
