SEE THIS:

we know that (x+4) is a factor,

so x=-4 as we know x+4=0

so further we put value of x

p(x)= k(-4)^3+15(-4)^2+9(-4)-40=0

k x -64 + 15 x 16  -36 -40 = 0

k x 100= 0

k= 100
