Given :- The population of a colony of ants first increased by M% and then decreased by M% a sa result the population . Find % increase of decrease in population now ?

Answer :-

Let initial population of ants = 100x .

after increasing M% ,

→ Population of ants = 100x * (100 + M)/100 = x(100 +M) .

and, after decreasing M% ,

→ Present Population of ants = x(100 + M) * (100 - M)/100 = x(10000 - M²)/100 = {100x - (M²x/100)}

then,

→ Population of ants decreased by = M²x/100 .

hence,

→ % decreased in population of ants = (M²x/100) * 100 / (100x) = (M²/100) % (Ans.)
