The population of a town at present is 50,000. If during a year the number of males increases by 5% and that females by 3%, the population would grow to 52,020 in one year. Find the number of males and females in the town at present.

ATQ,

5x/100 + 1,50,000-3x/100 = 2,020

5x - 3x + 1,50,000 = 2,02,000

x = 26,000

Hence there were 26,000 males in that town.

No.of females = 50,000 - 26,000 = 24,000

Hence, there were 26,000 males and 24,000 females in the town.
