Given :-

• The population of a town increases 10% annually.

• The present population of a town is 22000.

To find :-

• The population one year ago.

Salutation :-

Let the population one year ago was p

Time ( n ) = 1 year

Rate of increase per year ( r% ) = 10 %

Now according to the question ,

p ( 1 + r / 100 )ⁿ = 22000

p × ( 1 + 10 / 100 )¹ = 22000

p × 11 / 10 = 22000

p = 22000 × 10 / 11

p = 2000 × 10

p = 20000

•°• The population one year ago was 20,000

Note :-

Used identity → Compounded amount = p ( 1 + r / 100 )ⁿ
