the population of a town increases 10% half yearly. What is the population after one and half years,if the population is 1,000?

Here's the answer:

Present population = 1000
% growth for 6 months= 10% of 1000= (10/100)×1000 = 100

Population after 1 1/2 year
=> Population after 18 months

For 6 months-----%growth= 100
For 18[=3(6)] months----%growth = 3(100)=300


New population = Old population + %growth
=> New Population = 1000+300 = 1300
