Step-by-step explanation:

If population increases by 20% each year

let the present population is P(0) = 216000.

P(1) = Population after 1 year = P(0) X (100+20)/(100) = 1.2 X P(0)

Now, P(2) = 1.2 X 1.2 X P(0) = 311040.

Population after 2 years.

P(-1) = Population 1 year ago = P / 1.2

P(-2) = P/(1.2 X 1.2) = 150000. Population 2 years ago.

Answer:

Population of town increase by 20 %every year . Present population is 216,000 . So 20 % of 216,000 is 43,200 every year . So 2 years ago population was 1,29,600 & after 2 years it will be 3,02,000 .
