Let the last year population =x

Present year population =x+8/100

Present population =54000

So,108x/100=54000

x=54000×100/108=50,000

Hope this helps!:)

||GIVEN||

  • Percentage of population Increased annually = 8%
  • Population at present = 54,000.

||TO FIND||

  • Population a year ago.

||SOLUTION||

Let's,

Present Population be x

  • \sf{x = 54000-(8\%\;of\;54000)}

54000 - ( \frac{8}{100}  \times 54000) \\ 54000 - (8 \times 540) \\ 54000 - 4320 \\ 49680

Population at Present

  • \longmapsto\;{\bold{49680}}
