No. of people read newspaper A is n(A) = 5400
No. of people read newspaper B is n(B) = 4700
No.of people read both A and B is n(A ∩ B) = 1500
No. of people read either of news paper A or B is n(A U B) =?
From
n(A U B) = n(A) + n(B) - n(A ∩ B)
n(A U B) = 5400 + 4700 - 1500
n(A U B) = 10,100 - 1500 = 8600
Therefore no. of people neither reading newspaper A & B = 10,000 - n(A U B)
= 10,000 - 8600
= 1400
No. of people read newspaper B is n(B) = 4700
