the population of a town is increasing at the rate of 5percentage per annum. what will be the population of the town on this basis after two years, if the present population of the town is 16000?

let the population after 2 yrs be x
present population =16000=p
increasing rate = 5% per annum = r
time = 2 yrs =t

therefore,
x = p(1+r/100)^t
x = 16000×(1+5/100)^2
x = 16000×105/100×105/100
x = 17640

hence the population after 2 yrs will be 17640
