Answer: Given,

f(x). = x^2 + bx + 8=0 [ Here A=1,B=B,C=8]

Let one root be "y"

Then other root = 2y

We know,

Product of Roots = C/A

Then

2y ×y = 8/1

2y^2 =8

y^2=4

y=+-2

Then 2y = +4,-4

But since it is given that it should be a positive root

Therefore, 2y=4

Means the roots are 2,4.

Now,

Sum of Roots = -B/A

4+2= -b/1

6=-b

b=-6,which is the required answer

Hope it clears ur doubts Pruthil
