precence of a particular group of bacteria in water bodies indicates contamination While these bacteria do not directlycause disease, high quantities of fecal coliform bacteria suggest the presence of disease causing agents. The presence of fecal contamination is an indicator that a potential health risk exists for individuals exposed to this water.

Cholera is the most commonly found bacteria in water. It belongs to gram negative, comma shaped bacterial group which resides in water bodies.

The most common disease caused by Vibrio cholera is Diarrhea. It is a condition in which excess amount of water release from body and causes dehydration.

Other than this bacteria, E.coli is also present in water and other fresh eatables.
