the present age of a father is 10 years more than five times the age of his son if the father was 28 years old before two years find the present age of the father And his son
Answers
Answer:
Represent the son’s age in years as x
This means, the father is 10x years old
This also means 10x+5=5(x+5)10x+5=5(x+5)
Where 10x+510x+5 represents the father’s age in 5 years, which is also equal to 5 times the son’s age in 5 years
Factor out 5 from the left side
5(2x+1)=5(x+5)5(2x+1)=5(x+5)
Divide both sides by 5
2x+1=x+52x+1=x+5
Subtract x from both sides and subtract 1 from each side
x=4x=4
So right now, the son is 4 years old, and the father is 40 years old. This is true because 4∗10=404∗10=40 in 5 years, the son will be 9 years old because 4+5=94+5=9, and the father will be 45 years old because 40+5=4540+5=45. You can see this makes sense, because 9∗5=459∗5=45, which we know is the father’s age.

Let the present age of son be x (in years)
Therefore, present age of father = 10x (in years)
After 5 years,
Age of son = x + 5 (in years)
Age of father = 10x + 5 (in years)
Now according to question,
=> 10x + 5 = 5(x + 5)
=> 10x + 5 = 5x + 25
=> 10x - 5x = 25 - 5
=> 5x = 20
=> x = 4
Hence, Present age of son = 4 years
Present age of father = 40 years
Hope this helps.. CHEERS!

let x be the present age of the son.
then 10x is the age of the father
after 5 years
fathers age = 10x +5
age of son = x+5
and since father is 5 times older
10x+5 = 5(x+5)
10x-5x =25–5
5x = 20
x = 20/5 =4 ( son is 4 years old and father 40)
