let the present age of son be x

and the present age of father be y

5x=y --- (1)

10 years hence ,

age of son will be x+10

age of father will be y+10

3(x+10)=y+10----(2)

now comparing (1) and (2)

by replacing the value of y from (1) in (2)

=>3 (x+10)= 5x+10

=>3x+30=5x+10

=>30-10=5x-3x

=>20=2x

=>x=10

now putting the value of x in (1)

5x=y

=>5×10=y

=>y=50

thus age of son is 10 years

and the age of father is 50 years

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let the father's age be 4x and son's age be x

after 10years

4x + 10 = 3 *(x+ 10)

4x+10= 3x +30

4x -3x = 30-10

x= 20

therefore father's present age = 4x

=4 * 20 = 80

son's present age = x=20
