Let the present age of son be x years

Fathers age = 4x

After 5 years

Age of son = x + 5

Age of father = 4x + 5

According to the question

4x + 5 = 3 ( x + 5 )

4x + 5 = 3x + 15

4x – 3x = 15 – 5

x = 10

Ans : present age of son is 10 years

present age of father is 40 years

let the present age of son=x

present age of father=4x

5 year hence ,the age of son= x+5

age of father=4x+5

According to questions,

4x+5=3(x+5)

4x+5=3x+15

4x-3x=15-5

x=10

therefore,

age of son =x=10 years

age of father= 4x=4*10=40 years
