here is your answer......

age of father = ∆

age of children = ¥

acc to question ;

∆ = 3(¥). ------ eq 1

after 5 years ..

∆ +5 = 2 (¥+5+5 ). because there are 2 children

...........eq 2

on putting the values of ∆ in eq 2 from eq 1

3¥ +5 = 2 (¥+10)

3¥ = 2¥+20-5

3¥-2¥ = 15

¥ = 15

......

put the values of ¥ in eq 1

∆ = 3 (15) = 45.....

father is 45 years old....

and sum of their children is 15 years
