The present age of father of Rahul is 4 times the age of Rahul and the difference of their ages is 24. Find the age of his father after 5 years

Let the present age of Rahul is x.

Therefore,the present age of his

father is 4x.

From the given condition,

4x-x=24

3x=24

x=24/3

x=8

Therefore,the present age of rahul's father=4x

=4(8)

=32 years

Therefore,

The age of rahul's father after 5 years=32+5

=37 years

Solution :-

Let the present age of Father be x years

Let the present age of Son be y years.

As per first condition :-

  • The present age of father of Rahul is 4 times the age of Rahul

Let's represent this condition mathematically to obtain our equation.

x = 4y ---> 1

As per second condition :-

  • The difference of their ages is 24.

Representing it mathematically,

x - y = 24 ----> 2

Substitute x = 4y in equation 2,

4y - y = 24

3y = 24

y = \sf\large\frac{24}{3}

y = 8

Substitute y = 8, in equation 2,

x - y = 24 ---> 2

x - 8 = 24

x = 24 + 8

x = 32

° Present age of Father = x = 32 years

Present age of Son = y = 8 years.

To find the age of Father 5 years after, we will add 5 in the present age of Father.

Present age of Father = 32 years

Age after 5 years = x + 5 = 32 + 5 = 37 years

° Age of Father after 5 years is 37 years.
