the present age of mohini and meenakshi are in the ratio 2:3. After two years ,the ratio will be 5:7.find their present age.

let their present age be 2x and 3x respectively.

according to the question, after 2 years, the ratio will be 5 : 7

therefore (2x + 2)/(3x + 2) = 5/7
>> 7(2x + 2) = 5(3x + 2)
>> 14x + 14 = 15x + 10
>> 14x - 15x = 10 - 14
>> -x = -4
>> x = 4

hence, present age of mohini = 2x
= 2 × 4
= 8 yrs

and present age of Meenakshi = 3x
= 3 × 4
= 12 yrs
