Solution

Since the ratio of the present ages of Ram and Rahim is given as 4:3, let the present ages of Ram be (4x) years and Rahim's be (3x) years.

After four years,

ram \: age \:  = (4x + 4) \: years \\ rahim \: age \:  =  \: (3x  + 4) \: years

According to the given condition,

(4x+4) : (3x+4) = 6:5

i.e. \:  \:  \:   \frac{4x + 4}{3x + 4}  =  \frac{6}{5}

By cross multiplication, we get,

5(4x + 4) = 6(3x + 4)

or \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 20 + 20 = 18x + 24

or \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 20x - 18x = 24 - 20

or \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 2x = 4

or  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x = 2

Present age of Ram

(4 \times 2) = 8years

Present age of Rahim

(3 \times 2) = 6years

Verification

 \frac{present \: age \: of \: ram}{present \: age \: of \: rahim}

 =  \frac{8}{6}  =  \frac{4}{3}

Therefore 4:3

Which is the same as given.

Hence, the solution is correct.
