The present age of Ram is 2 years more than Lakhan's age. 3 years hence now, the age of Ram will be 8 less than twice of Lakhan's age. Find:

Let the Present age of Lakhan be : L

Given that the Present age of Ram is 2 years more than Lakhan

⇒ The Present age of Ram is : L + 2

After 3 years The ages of Lakhan and Ram will be :

Lakhan : L + 3

Ram : (L + 2) + 3 = L + 5

Given that After 3 years, The Age of Ram will be 8 less than twice of Lakhan's age.

⇒ After 3 years, The Age of Ram is equal to 8 less than 2 times of Lakhan's

We know that after 3 years, Ram's age is L + 5 and Lakhan's age is L + 3

⇒ L + 5 = 2(L + 3) - 8

⇒ L + 5 = 2L + 6 - 8

⇒ L = 7

As L represents the present age of Lakhan, The Present age of Lakhan is 7 years. If Lakhan's present age is 7 then Ram's age is 2 more than Lakhan's.

⇒ Present Ram Age = 7 + 2 = 9

⇒ 6 years ago, Lakhan's age will be 7 - 6 = 1 year

⇒ 6 years ago, Ram's age will be 9 - 6 = 3 years
