Hi friend
---------------
Your answer
-----------------------

SOLVING (BY METHOD OF SUBSTITUTION)
------------------------------------------------------------------

Let Sunita's age be x and Smita's age be y.

According to the question,
-------------------------------------------

Equations
-------------------

x/y = 3/5....... (i)

x + 4 = 3(y - 4)........ (ii)

From equation (i), we get,
----------------------------------------

x/y = 3/5

=> 3y = 5x

=> y = 5x/3...... (iii)

Now,
-----------

From equation (iii), we get,
-------------------------------------------

x + 4 = 3(y - 4)

=> x + 4 = 3y - 12

=> x - 3y = - 12 - 4

=> x - (5x/3 × 3) = - 16 [ From (iii)]

=> x - 5x = - 16

=> - 4x = - 16

=> 4x = 16

=> x = 16/4

=> x = 4

Therefore,
-------------------

Sunita's age = x = 4 years

Smita's age = 5x/3 = (5× 4)/3 years = 20/3 years

HOPE IT HELPS
